He could have just slapped your wrist though. Maybe he doesn't like German cars.

He was smug as he said are u exempt from wearing a seat belt, stupid question really .
It's not a stupid question as it's actually a requirement to ask you if you have an exemption certificate ..... people do have them and there is obviously no offence committed if you have one.

You can't tell if someone has an exemption just by looking at them or their car!

Sorry, I was confused by the the topic title - I thought Jamie was asking about "sodomising police" and I was wondering quite what his experience was.

Bummer. I was walking through town the other week and there was a copper walking the other way, he just pointed towards a guy in a van, made a hand gesture to put seatbelt on then gave the guy a thumbs up, guess there are some good coppers about

There are some reasonable ones about - I was doing about 60 in a 50 yesterday on the A1, when I overtook a unmarked BMW - he pulled out behind me, gave me the blue lights, so I pulled over to the inside lane, thinking he was about to stop me - he pulled over to the centre lane beside me, and waved at me to slow down, I mouthed sorry to him, and he gave me the thumbs up..........

To my surprise they arn't all bad, a couple of weeks ago I overtook an unmarked focus, I think I attracted his attention because at the time i passed him I was redlining it in second and continued to accelerate to about 94 (in a 50) before braking for the lights. He pulled me and told me to take it easy as I was going a bit fast?!
