I agree education is the key and we do do this to a certain extent but as we are in an industry that has a high turnover of labour sometimes it just isn't feasible.
Hence why I tend to educate myself (Well go and get educated)

HGV's as Squeek will confirm no doubt have a speedo calibrated in conjunction with the tacho, and this has to be checked and re calibrated on a regular basis
Where as ours are never checked and hence all read incorrectly to some extent always under. Hence in road works with specs HGV's are often interesting to follow and in my white van I am usually doing an indicated 55.
Yes i drive a white van virtually every day, and now I know i cant drive and maybe shouldn't be on the road, leaving it clear for knobs in sports cars !!
Maybe HGV's and white vans should only be on the rads between 11pm and 6 am, and then all your deliveries to home from Tesco ect would arrive at 3 am along with the man who repair's your washing machine !

About the calibration. That is what I was trying to say. Calibrated with the tacho
VOSA callibrate 3.5T upwards via a handheld unit (looks like OBD11!)
plugged into the tacho. Its accurate.
Some chassis unladen will out accelerate an average car until 56 mph..
Some Irish trucks over here are unrestricted.
No 3rd lane 3.5T ^ with limiters.

Only education with a disciplinary system in place will prevent it, unless the driver happens to be a good egg. With most people, there has to be a threat of punishment, fine, or warning, for them to take heed of any verbal restrictions.

Actually, what BoM needs to assess is;
How many incidents (shunts/fines/blown engines) have been DIRECTLY attributable to vehicles exceeding 70 and what was the true cost?
What would the true cost be of fitting the entire fleet with speed limiters?
Anything else is just emotional BS/bigoted prejudice.

I think everyone misses the root cause.
If you have a high turnover off staff then is that because they DGAF, or you DGAF?
If you can keep staff long term and give them no reason to rag about in your vehicles, then they probably wont.
Its simple lateral thinking.
