Considering is fall down a lift shaft and subsequent injuries, I see he presented the cups at the GP, it must only be a couple of months ago he had 2 broken ankles and other injuries.

I'm fond of him too. His name was synonymous with speed in my era as Fangio's had been before him.

I am sure that it is an apocryphal story, but I remember a reporter (I think) saying that he had once interviewed Moss while being driven by him around around UK roads, and Moss, while oversteering around a bend, had tried to change the cassette in the stereo, promptly dropping the tape in the passenger foot well. Moss continued to slide around the corner, leaned over to pick up the cassette and continued to answer the reporter’s questions all at the same time as if this all was perfectly normal!

I am sure this provided a great story for the reporter, true or otherwise, but I dearly would love it to have been true.

Could well be true! Most people believe they're good drivers and would get sanctimonious, mainly because such men as Moss only reveal the utter incompetence of the sanctimonious.

Hammond's interview was also very revealing, especially as to how good Moss was when he really was very good!

Moss is a legend. He's views on safety are interesting. I think im right in thinking that he believes modern drivers have too many safety measures. He thinks racing SHOULD be dangerous ! Balls of steel. Definately the greatest driver never to have won the Championship.
