big saloons are the cars no-one wants

and so, as Mark says, that's where the bargains lie

once people understand that fuel costs are rarely the biggest cost in running a car....

there's no need to buy something that does 16mpg but 25 is achievable from something like a 2.0 Omega

I get 36mpg from the Saab, mixture of roads with some long motorway journeys.

It's a 2.0 non turbo, it's slow to accellerate, but then I didn't buy it to set the world on fire, it still cruises happily at 70-80 on the motorway and it's not embarassingly slow in normal traffic either.

I have to say, until I bought the Elise, I couldn't see the point of a beater - I'm completely converted now - doesn't matter what happens to this car, I paid
