Default Tesla S

This week's Autocar has an in-depth test of new Tesla S, pitted against an Aston and Panamera.

The testers, including Steve Sutcliffe, opine that the Tesla simply wipes-the-floor with both the Aston and the Porsche.

Neither the Aston or Porsche can get close to the Tesla up to 120 mph.

Sutcliffe reckons it's the best car he's tested this century and is a game-changer. At £88K it's not going to be for everyone, but he ends the article on a very up-beat note about the future of (electric) cars.

Nice.

Presumably having beaten an Aston or Porsche up to 120, you then need to stop for an eight hour recharge.

Someone has the Elise based one near me. I see it out and about quite regularly. Has a tesla plate on it.

I imagine the torque suits heavy bastards like this. The range and charge time less so.

I've never been convinced e suits sports cars but if the batteries can meet requirements it suits stuff like this surely?

In every aspect of driving and ownership, from handling to practicality and build quality?

The Americans say the interior design is nice, but the BQ is more Chrysler on a bad day than the other two.

If only Acuras looked like that, though! One might have a reliable choice.

I generally find I dispute everything Peter Sutcliffe/Autobore say these days, so I'll use that as a D/F starting point.

I occasionally contemplate the advantages of being dead

One is not having to live in a world of electric cars
