Default Today I played with...

The Autobann club (N.I.'s P1 type club) were in the village my parents live in today, giving people runs up and down the dual carriageway and round a few roundabouts ... i was going to get petrol and played with an SL55... he utterly slaugtered me in a straight line, i caught up in traffic and we both went onto a section with two roundabouts, i was amazed i could sit right with him round both... then back onto the dual carriage way again and he shot off... he did wave tho

As expected then.

Why were you amazed you could sit with a 2 tonne car through a roundabout?

Oh, and I'm with Moggy - did they have special permission to hammer up the d/c?

I have driven one of these Mercs and it would murder a Honda. Nearly 500 bhp , v8 , twin super charged IIRC.

I've toyed with one while I was driving an M3 CS (NOT a CSL) and to be frank, its cornering speed was laughably low but on the straights the massive torque and power really did make a difference. And a 343bhp M car is not slow in a straight line, yet the Merc murdered me.

I love the SL55 AMG

I was accelerating flat out and one went past me as if I was standing still I loved the noise, awesome cars, would prefer the SL65 AMG though

Heh heh, yes the stats of the SL65 are impressive...

Apparently though, it is barely any quicker standing start than the SL55 because it simply can't get its massive torque down to the tarmac, and the 55 sounds better too
