Default Tool Chests

I've been toying with the idea of getting myself a tool chest for my garage. Whenever I do any work on the car I'm forever walking back and forth into the garage to find something thats hanging up on the back wall. It would be nice to have something I can wheel out to the car and has everything close to hand.

I'm looking for one on wheels with several draws of different heights. Any recommendations on manufactuers would be much appreciated

the halfords pro stuff seems to get good reviews, has lifetime warranty (the tools at least) and is always in a 'half price' sale making it quite pleasing on the wallet.

A friend has a few HUGE snap on ones, that are nice, but I dread to think what he paid.

I have a halfords red one, it's good. Durable, rubber mats in the drawers etc and good price

Same as some of the MM ones I think.

I think I'd prefer 4 loose casters rather than 2 fixed but other than that all good

There is a well priced two piece blue one in Costco that might be of interest, I've not got it myself but it looks good value, I think it's around the £350 mark.

Only down side is that I don't think it has lifting handles on the top box, but if you're not intending lifting it in and out of your boot then that should be no issue.

Cheers for thoughts. Not had a chance to look in my local Hellfords. Might pop over there at lunchtime tomorrow. I was thinking about having the ability to put it in the boot should the need arise. A decent size chest won't fit in my boot, so maybe I need to give it some more thought.

You need two reasonably sized plastic trays, you can then add tools to the tray and take them to the job, you can also put any nuts and bolts that you remove in the trays too.
I've got two pretty big tool chests but wouldnt want to be moving them around.

Erm, maybe a different post needed?

Seriously, the machine mart ones really aren't too shabby, certainly not for what they cost.

I'd be nervous about wheeling one around constantly though, I reckon it wouldn't be long before the wheels were sh@££ed.

seconded on all points

see if you can find someone with a Halfords trade account - these chests are often on offer
