track day question
I want to treat my son to a trackday in his CTR while I take my S. I am in Wiltshire so seem spoilt for choice. Motorsport Events Trackdays offer:
Keevil 10/05/2010
Hullavington 30/04/2010
Colerne 17/04.2010
These seem to be obvious contentders. As I haven't been to one before does anyone
1. have a recommendation?
2. care to join us?
3. is the S under the 100db noise limit
4. er.....please fill this space in with what I should know

Hi Phil,
We have 2 track day companies we use on here, BookaTrack and TrackactionOnline.
Out of the 2, Bookatrack do more in the South www.bookatrack.co.uk
Castle Combe isn't far from you and is bloody good fun, go easy in the wet though and can be tricky for beginners.
3 - yes
4 - have a look in the FAQ for track advice

Motorsport events run excellent days on airfields with nothing to hit. I'd wholeheartedly recommend them for first timers. You'll be well under the noise limit with a stock or even mildly louder S2000. Go for it

My choice for a novice would indeed be Keevil.
The list of three is almost certainly Motorsport Events (MSE) managed events, and good they are too

Ed and Natasha Moore run a tight and safe outfit, absolutely no clowns allowed and rules for safety are strictly enforced.
The Bookatrack stuff is far more relaxed and although perfectly fine for a novice they have a more 'experienced' clientelle normally.
Depending on your confidence that can be a help, or just more intimidating.
A great shame there's nothing there before the 6th March as I'm now on paternity leave and would love to come for moral support

Have fun, its a brilliant day out.
Just make sure you have new break pads, fresh fluids and decent tyres to see you home after the abuse!
As Simon says (lol) you will see only about 82db on a stock S2000.

Motorsport Events did all the S2Ki airfield days in the past. People still use them now.
Of course, they don't pay S2KUK for advertising on here so perhaps that's why they slipped your mind.....
We had more than 20 trackday virgin S2000s on one of their Academy days.
An Academy Day is a good introduction to trackday driving, you and your son will get professional tuition on a range of skills you can take forward to full-blown trackdays (and it's a lot of fun). Though their airfield days are well run and safe enough for people of all abilities.

I was typing on the mobile last night, hence my somewhat terse reply.
I'd recommend Hullavington of those three, because they have a "car control area" where you can get some "slidey around" type instruction. The circuit layout is longer too, which means more room.
