could be a handful of things...

brakes (would happen all the time, to some extent)
geo setup
road surface

sticking/seized calipers spring to mind, but if it's only happening on the motorway, and generally in the 1st lane, then as others have said - road surface!

you'll get a similar thing on cambered roads aswell; the car will feel like it pulls to one side.

tbh, ive not noticed my S tramline much.
alot of tram lining issues seem to be down to car weight and suspension setup. my mini (1990) was a nightmare for tram lining!!!

 

IN my experience tramlining can be exagerrated by tyre choice too. In both my S2000 and the CTR I owned previously the "stock" Bridgestones made the car very prone to tramlining, when I changed to the Toyos on the S2000 it reduced the tramlinging effect dramatically, especially on the inside lane of the M6 south bound around Holmes Chapel which is the worst stretch of motorway for tramlining. Changing from Bridgestones to Pirelli P-Zero on the CTR removed most of the tramlining as well.

 

mmmm! seems as though I am not experiencing tram lining so tyres?, the fronts are new(ish) and no signs of wear on a particular surface. I'm quite keen to get a a geo setup check if for no othe reason than to rule out (or in) any problems I might have, but where do you go for such a thing and what does it cost? Honda garage (aka arm an' a leg)?

thanks veeheex, I will try to find an equivalent place nearer home but if I can't find a local one with an equivalent accolade as yours the will take your advice. I haven't got the confidence to push the car much at the moment and need to know if the road holding is down to me or the machine. Thanks for the recommendation
