Default Truvelo info

was drive back from oxford, and took a unplanned detour - spur of the moment thing. came off at banbury and headed north over to daventry.
there were a few villages on the route, and 2 adjacent villages had 1 truvelo cam each.since i know these are the time gap cameras that avg your speed across 2 cameras, whats the deal with their direction?

one was facing towards north-bound traffic, and the second was facing south-bound traffic but on the north-bound side of the road.

2 questions really:
1) it appeared like the second camera COULD of been vandalized - thus facing in the wrong direction. it didnt look quite right but was facing the lane on the other side of the road. can truvelo be pointed in oposite directions and still catch cars legally?
2) if the camera is to be used for both sides of the road, doesn't it have to be in the centre of the road?

Truvelos aren't average speed cameras - you're thinking of SPECs.

Truvelo are just forward facing cameras - nothing to do with avg speed.

they do flash that's why they have the red tinted lense to stop it blinding you

To my knowledge, the only average speed zones are on the A43 out of Northampton towards Kettering, and the A428 out of Northampton towards Bedford (I think).

Mostly truvelos around here (except in Warwickshire where they tend to use vans - see my other thread ). They do sometimes move them to point at the other side of the road (i.e. they use one mount and turn them around), and only in the 30 limits through villages. Doesn't stop them putting up speed camera signs where there aren't any.

I've only even seen one flash and it was a weird green sort of flash early evening but no prob as i was on my bike at the time! But i've been past loads of others that have never flashed so i'm not so sure that they all flash during the daytime?
