We had a Multipla when the girls were younger - it was possibly one of the best cars we've owned. Six seats, a large luggage area and when the rear seats were removed, it was almost like a Transit. An easy 40 -44 mpg from the JTD engine too.

It's one of few 'modern' vehicles that has real design integrity IMHO.

Very cleverly packaged too; the floor design could accommodate two LPG tanks under the passenger area without affecting passenger or luggage space.

The only down-side was the central vent; the girls saw a weird face in the design...

Edit:
I forgot to mention; the positioning of the high-beam headlights below the windscreen gave fantastic illumination!

Not a patch on the Multipla for practicality.

In the FRV, long term Belsen inmates would struggle to find enough space when sitting three-abreast...

Yes, you got it in one!! That is a true monstrosity

Here's a Mk1 Multipla prototype, or Nissan S-Cargo as it was called.

Really though we are not talking about how marvelously practical these cars/vans are, just how butt ugly they are aesthetically. And great though it may be, the Multipla looks so bulbous and miss-shaped, kind of like Franken-Espace, with a huge domed slap-head! If it were 'human' I'm sure that it would've had a documentary on Channel 5 by now.
