Default What discount I can I get?

Ok the parents have finally decided on a new motor, and like the Boxter.

They don't *need* the 3.4S and the 2.7 with 250 bhp, suits them down to the ground.

Now, I am reasonably cunning with haggling, but not familiar with Porsche dealers.

1) I assume they will be being affected by sales as per most manufacturers due to credit crunch? I like to know their situation as it helps with haggling

2) What sort of % can be had of the new price? I think it's

BoxSter

And the 2.7 as a basic car should be around 31k ish IIRC.

The S is around 38k

Probably 5 - 8%

At the moment there might be a deal to be done!

Yep but that's with absolutely no extras - doens't take a few extras to bupm that up by 5k!

This one has quite a few.

Is it brand new sitting in the showroom or are they factory ordering with the extras?

If ordering with the extras they will be less willing to discount.

If it is sitting there they will want to shift it because they will probably have a short period of time to register it before they get penalised. More likely to get discount in this situation.

MB - Sure your parents wont listen to you like mine wont, but of course would make more sense to get a used one, especially in this market as we enter recession, buying a porker is a sure way to loss a ton, but I know what your answer is going to be :-)

Yah they want a new one, or one with 1000 miles or less. I can sort of see their reasoning but I know what you mean!

Jonesy, it's sat in the showroom brand spanking with extras already on.

It is most probably a cancelled order, most dealers in their right mind would only order more basic spec models.

They usually have a time period to sell before they are panalised.

You will get a good deal on it!

IMO

Then screw the salesman to the floor.

July and August are traditionally slow months anyway before the new reg.

But then there's the credit crunch, no-one's buying much of anything and they've got targets to meet, otherwise the kids are out of that nice little fee-paying school and off to get stabbed at the local comp.

Cool.

So does 10% sound optimistic then?

I like to go in with a go / no go figure, and let them know it.

If you want 10% off the overall price you may need to haggle harder as on a new car 10% would normally mean the pre VAT price.
