I like the whole idea of the Palmer way of 'teaching'. I have had
instruction before on track and I felt underwhelmed.

I was a driving instructor once in the 90's, telling someone what to
do is easy, its all the rest.

I got on very well with Andy Walsh, did quite a few days there and took it a lot further than the usual routine.

I can see how it might not work out for everyone though.

It also helps that I'm only about 30 minutes away from North Weald.

From what I've been told about Don Palmer, it's a very different way of doing things, and if you've got the budget sounds like the one to go for.

I was planning to go and see him myself last year but never got round to it.

Elvington is a safe place to practice control etc but
I can only find track days there.
RUSS, Try DriverSills.com for training at Elvington; I havn't tried it myself yet and therefor can't vouch for it but I believe a few people on here have so they may be along shortly to comment; or you could try a search.

Andy Walsh's Bending The Rules DVD come through the post today.

It was recomended to view before going on his course even though
im not now! Worth a look tonight I think.

Got to be worth the equivalent to 10 bhp by the morning biggrin.gif

Russ.
I also bought this when initially looking for good training; I personally thought it was a bit thin and merely brushed over the various techniques it attempts to explain.

OK, admittedly it's designed to go hand in hand with the practical training course itself but I think they could have done a much better job with more depth to it.

I actually emailed them to point this out (in a constructive way); they were very interested in my views and we passed a number of emails back and forth. I pointed out that something like 'The Drift Bible' made by Best Motoring was the kind of level of depth within each area of technique that they imo should be aiming for. They asked me for details of where to get it from and said theyd be buying it; so perhaps they'll have something with a bit more meat on offer in the future.

Hey Chilled,

How is it that you are considered to be the quickest fella on here; and that's not a loaded question I am genuinely interested to know why you are so quick and how you got to where you are?

It appears to be generally accepted that you are one of a few genuinely talented drivers on here (relatively speaking, no disrespect to other peoples abilities and skills, I consider myself one of the less talented's).

Have you raced for years? Done thousands of trackdays? Been on a lot of driving courses? Got bigger balls than yer avarage punter? Perhaps as Clarkson once pointed out, Have that racing driver blinkered mentality that allows you to switch off all of the 'what happns if' thoughts that most of us likley suffer from to a greater or lesser degree?

Ach, I wasn't intending to put Chilled on the stand here; just that poeple acknowledge that he's handy on track.

I'd ask the same questions of you as well Mark as you are also clearly seen as handy on track and you do race.

People like me can learn from you chaps.

We've not had Chilled up against the clock yet, there's going to be a fair bit of pressure at that first race
