Don’t know much about wheels and am not really that into them but these in an ad for new Giulietta Cloverleaf caught my eye. They have an unusual curvy spiral design with fifteen spokes, five of which swirl to the centre hub and are picked out in silver against the remaining ten grey ones. Very pretty but maybe a bit too fussy?
I spotted some hideous, slabby, black and chrome ones on a Mustang paired with yucky metallic purple calipers. Wish I had snapped them.
Wheel design, as with everything else is subject to the vagaries of fashion. In the ten years that the S was in production the wheels went from five spoke through multi-spoke and back again, though of course when a trend is repeated it is subtly changed.
When I first saw my S I thought the wheels looked a bit agricultural and were one of my least favourite features of the car. Wouldn’t swap though, I like stock.
I have noticed a trend for boy racers to fit black multi-spoked wheels to their Corsas, VWs etc. They make the cars look like prams IMO.
Interested to hear about and preferably see your wheel loves and hates, past and present.
Having just had my standard 16" refurbed standard finishb I think these are looking good. Not really into wheels, but I do know the 16 year old 15" steel radials on The Shed are hardly pretty, althougyh very functional. Unlikely to have these refurbed, so I just look up rather than down when I get in it!
I have 17 inch classic Alfa Pepper Pot design
Perfect
Too many companies - Porsche included - use directional wheels, but only one design so one side of the car looks like the wheels are on back to front
When I was trying to find a decent pic of the Giulietta wheels, best viewed at an angle rather than face on, I read of Alfa 'telephone dial' wheels. Are these synonymous with 'pepper pot' wheels? TTIUWP
I have been trying, unsuccessfully, to research the black and silver alloy wheels that I think were fitted to MGB GTs in the seventies known as 'manhole covers'.
That is a very interesting fact about directional wheels.
Those Mito wheels are pretty too ID. I'm going to pay a lot more attention to this subject in future.

don't remember any alloys on MGBs at that time
you don't mean the black and silver painted Rostyles?
