I think that's it, white is ok if you live somewhere sunny like Miami, California, or the french riviera (and didn't someone say that TT looked good in the sun?) but in Birmingham on a wet Wednesday is no place for a white car other than a taxi.
I think the difference is that there is "shiney white" (like the TT) or "Van white" like the Punto. Van white is ok in England, or for hire cars in the Med, but shiney white is only ok if it's sunny. It just looks terrible with a long brown stain along the side.
Hondas are ok if in GPW and are Type-Rs as that reflects the racing heritage.
