Default Why change the habit of a lifetime....

Well after having one go a few months ago I decided to spend most of today cleaning my car Well actually I took it for a trip around Cheshire first thing just to make sure it was dirty.

I pretty much followed Rahula's instructions from his website.
First stage was wash with the crappy flash gun thing and lambswool mitt. The only thing the Flash hose thing is good for is the auto-dry setting and rinsing the car. Dried it manually as well so it was bone dry. Then took the clay bar to it, used the Zaino one with Z6 to lubricate. Then washed the car again with Meguiars Gold Class shampoo. Dried it off then followed the Meguiars 3 step process. Firstly with the Meguiars paint cleaner, followed by Polish then Gold Class Wax. Finished off with their Speed detailer. Cleaned the wheels and waxed them too including using Zaino tyre gloss. Used the Meguiars Glass Cleaner on all windows.

In all it took around 5 hours of bloody hard work. Not bad seeing as I don't really do manual labour

The results:

OK so I didn't hoover it

It looks pretty damn amazing if I do say so myself. The number of blemishes in the paintwork that have now gone has surprised me. So was it worth it. Yes I think so, my neighbours thinker I am certifiable (well more so then they did anyway) However the number of comments from people was impressive.

Many thanks to Rahula for his guide, Meguiars for their cracking products, Tangoman for posting so many pictures of his work it tempted me to have a go and Microbe (IIRC) for arranging the GB for Pakshak towels

Now if you can do this well by hand how good would it look if I had one of this porter cable thingies.

Eeerily satisfying work too.

See what they think of you when your polishing a car at 11pm under a pair of 500W security lights.

PCs make light work of it but i still prefer to finish off by hand.

There was a 911 under there - I thought you'd put a hard top on your old S

Didn't hoover it not point in finishing it off then

If you are finding that satisfying be very careful it's all down hill from there

BTW looks good!

You should have called round the neighbour had a 430 parked out the front all day We could have had an exhaust sound off

Oh and by the way. Porsche wheels corrode just as bad as Honda ones maybe worse. Also not covered by extended warranty.......
