Default Winter Tyres

It seems that no one makes a winter tyre in the size for my daily driver with the necessary speed rating - I'm looking for 195/55/R16 87V but I can only find "H" rated

I've got to be better off with winter tyres even if they are at a lower speed rating?

Advice?

All winter tyres have low speed ratings

Loads of useful stuff here: http://www.kwik-fit.com/winter-tyres-faq.asp

Why are you looking at 195/55 16, the size for the fronts are 205/55 16?

Continental sell the TS830P in the rear 225/50 16 and also the TS850 (replacement for the TS830P) in 205/55 16. These are Conti's top winter high performance tyre and are available at Tyreman at www.tyremen.co.uk

You realy want to do 148 MPH (V rating) on winter tyres? Would that be on ice or just soft snow?

its not about wanting to do more than 70 mph - its that insurance companies get arsie if the "wrong" tyres are fitted and H rating is not what is listed for my car!

I don't think it matters.

I have them on my 5 series, but I have the BMW recommended size & ratings etc...

As it's the manufacturers recommended tyre it's all good.

I'm sure you can find the same info for whatever your daily is....
