Default '04 Honda S2000

I have seen all the threads on the general S2000 board but I was curious what everyone here thinks of the '04 S2000?

I think they have softened it down to look like a miata. I am very dissapointed in it to see the least.

On the bright side, I resigned my job last week and went into business for myself. As a startup, I wouldn't have had the money to buy a new '04 S2000 anyways. I am glad now. If it would have came with the NSX engine then I would have figured the way to get an '04.

Also, I assume it is true about the 8000 redline and more even power curve?

So far I think I am in a minority here, but I like the new look on the S2K.

I agree w/ ugotmade- I think it is gonna be awesome. Honda will take care of us. They havent forgot why they built the car. They are just trying to give us more power with what we already have. (The new Engine Work) MY 02 cents, DERICK

From the few pictures I've seen, I think I like the changes to the front end. It's hard to tell about the other changes. I'd really like to drive one to see how much of a difference the changes in suspension, engine displacement and final gearing will make.

My dissapointment with the S2k is the engine. Why change the engine if you aren't going to keep up with the competition in terms of performance. The Boxster S is up to over 260 hp. The Audi TT is coming out with a 350hp version next year. The 350z has around 270hp. Even though the Z4 has less hp, it is pretty close in performance. The S2000 destroyed it's competition when it came out.

I felt like they should have aimed for the 300 - 320 hp with a 6 cylinder if they were going to change it.

I don't care for the styling changes from the pictures but maybe once I see it in person, it will be a dffierent story.

I agree with George, I like the new look. I only hope they don't soften the suspension.

it has less hp than others but can motor around the track just fine. i love the weight. i dont want to drive a 3200 pound car even if it has 270hp. ie. 350z. i have a 350z and its a toad. if anything id want the s2k to have about 20 more lb of torque and a better windshield. as for the I6...its a roadster not a dragster, and i dont think people buying 90k nsxs would be too happy

bridow,

I don't know if it is true but I read that Honda was going to try to get the NSX price down in the 50-60k to make it a more mainstream sports car.

As for the engine, I think you will be suprised. I seriously doubt Honda would have waited 4 years and turn out a worse product. And as for the competition, i have a feeling this improvement will only lessen any advantage they have....why? the .2 liters is tied directly into bottom end thus getting us off the line quicker (OUR MAIN COMPLAINT THUS FAR) ..ie torque. Unfortunately, the result is a loss of 1k rpm. Granted I love that xtra grand, but am xtremly excited to see the difference
