Default Anyone with an ITR in Raleigh/Cary?

Hey folks,

Been kicking around the idea of picking up an Integra Type R as a fun DD car. If I end up pulling the trigger, it'll probably be something higher mileage, so I dont feel too bad about autocrossing/tracking, putting a bike rack on it, etc.

In any case, was looking to see if there was anyone local that had one that would be willing to come to one of the meets and let me ride along with 'em as a "test ride". I'm not new to Integras (had a '98 automatic before the S2000), but obviously the R badge carries a premium price tag even among older cars, so I just want to be sure it's worth it over a GSR / another car.

In any case, would appreciate the help!

I owned a '98 ITR from 02-05, what are your concerns?

Well, if I had to put a finger on it: Can I get excited about driving an Integra after driving the S2000 for the past 6 years.

A secondary concern (just from the Type R community in general) is theft, but I'm really curious if that's as much of an issue in this area (especially considering that newer cars these days in the same sport compact class are suprisingly quick).

The only reason this has presented itself as an option, is the Mrs is in need of a new car (currently a '98 Accord). I was thinking of keeping the Accord as a third car, but given the auto transmission shifts hard now and again, it's probably best to sell it.

I've owned two ITRs ('00 #510 PY & '00 #106 FBP) while living in the Raleigh-Cary area. Time frame was '00 - '08. While theft was always a concern, I never had any problems and I DD both. Both had alarms and I was conscious about where I left it, but that's it.

1. Yes, I am actually looking at getting an ITR to replace my DD.
2. Do you have a garage?

The ITR isn't just an Integra...I've owned integras before and it doesn't even compare. The suspension and resale value are worth you still putting 13k into a under 100k milage ITR any day of the week.

Appreciate the help guys.

On the garage front, I do have one, but the S2000 and the Mrs's replacement car will be occupying it. So the ITR would be in the driveway. I'm definitely aware of the stories of theft and all that (my previous Integra was a theft recovery), but unfortunately that's the spot available for a 3rd car. My color preference would be NHBP or FBP just to keep things a little more discreet. Of course, how discreet can you be with red Acura badges and big Type aaaaarrrrrggghh stickers all around it

But in the more important case (the "fun" part ), that's kind of the reason I'm interested in sitting in one or riding along in one just to check it out.

I personally wouldn't leave an R outside on a regular basis. Talk the wife into leaving her's outside

Speaking of ITRs

I'd drive up to NH for that

If you're looking for a black one though, this one is nice: http://hondamarketplace.com/showthre...t=Integra+Type

Im a CW man myself though: http://hondamarketplace.com/showthre...t=Integra+Type

I'm digging the Mugen wing on that black one . For my price range, I'm probably looking at the 10k mark, which puts me at higher mileage category (and chances are no snazzy JDM mods).

Here's a white one for 12k with a nice looking mod list

To your point though, the parking situation is part of the reason I'm a little iffy on the whole thing. I'm picking my battles about the swapping spots with the wife. If she gives her blessing on me spending money on a 3rd car (and doesnt bring up my other toys she has let slide), she gets to keep her garage parking.

If I was dead set on a 3rd car, I could get a GSR for less, leave it outside and care a whole lot less about keeping it nice. But then the other side of the coin is: you only live once, and ITRs still are so cool

if you run across a 98 ITR CW #156, that used to be mine!

had some great times in that car.
theres prob 200k miles on it by now though.

ive always wanted to track that car down and see what it looks like now (how riced out it is lol).

i have very fond memories of flying down 440 at 4am hittin 100 in that thing and driving all up and down the east coast for dj gigs..

oh to be young and irresponsible.

(this is also the reason why i had to drive sedans for a few years )
