Default Anyone in triad have the tools ....

TheBig Brown Box just dropped off my T1R Test Pipe a couple days ago... I was just wondering if anyone near here has the tools to help a fellow member out and swap my cat out with it? I know a shop that'll do it but wont mention who, but i was thinking maybe I could save a couple bucks doing it backyard style. Just wondering.

Does it just bolt in? What tools do you need?

Yes it just bolts in, however in my past experiences with car exhaust systems is that getting the bolts already on there off is a MAJOR PITA unless you have a torch or impact wrench. First time I spent under my old Nissan for 3-4 hours with a dremel trying to hack the bolt off, and with the mr2 i used to own I ended up taking it to a muffler shop where he had to use a torch to get the bolts off. So with all that said, I am going to start soaking the bolts on the cat with WD40 and hope it will work its self in and loosen them up to where it wont be so bad. So I suppose as far as tools go I'd need either an impact wrench or a torch and someone who knows what theyre doing with a torch. But now, if the WD40 does some magic, I'd more than likely have the proper tools already. The pipe does have the spot for the o2 sensor and Im using a stock exhaust (for now, not for long tho )

You won't need an impact wrench. Using one may actually break or strip something. Use Liquid Wrench (WD40 will do) on all the nuts and bolts about an hour before you do the job, then again just before you put a wrench to them. The rear nuts can be undone with a socket alone. Use a short length of copper pipe to extend the handle for more leverage. The front ones (2), you'll need a socket on one side and a closed end wrench to hold the other side. Use a big screw driver or pry bar to separate the cat from the rest of the exhaust. The test pipe should come with a new gasket for the back. Re-use the front metal donut. It'll help if you do it with the exhaust system warm. Just run it till it's hot, then let it cool off till you can touch it with your bare hand.
You can install the mechanical O2 simulator to keep the CEL off.
