Default AP1/AP2

Hey im new to this forum but definitely not new in the car world. But its been brought to my attention that I really want to pick up an S but can't decide on the AP1(02-03) or AP2(06-07). Before this turns into a debate I really just want to test it out first hand (ive researched both cars and have some knowledge on both)so that's why im planning to check an AP1(02) out this weekend to see how it drives..we all know it has that 9k redline everyone crazes about.. I was just wondering if anyone would mind to give your input(especially those that have had both or tried them both first hand) and if your in Fort Bragg, Fayetteville, NC or surrounding areas id like to get a ride in these cars to see how they perform..I appreciate it...thanks in advance!

Yes the Ap1 has 9k but the cams die out at 8200. Yet the Ap2 has a Redline of 8200 yet wanting to make power pass the 8200 mark.. A friend of mine has an Ap1 and mines an Ap2 we both took our cars to do dyno runs so this is where my facts are coming from. So imo I would go with an Ap2. Oh yeah I've had both models, Ap1 and Ap2. Yeah I loved the Ap1 but I love the Ap2 even more. But honest both are great cars period. Good luck.

This is the DEFINITIVE thread on all the differences between the model years. This thread is 01/02 vs. 02/03, but it also has links to 03 vs. 04/05, 04/05 vs. 06/07, etc.

Can't go wrong either way. they both wear that badge. think of an ap1 as raw and an ap2 refined.

I would buy the newest model you can afford. The difference between the models is well documented, so take a lok at the numerous threads. I can tell you I spend much more time between 3-5k than I do at 8-9k. I drove quite a few AP1's when I was shopping and decided I preferred the AP2. Both are great cars, so you can't really lose. Enjoy the search.

I have an AP1 stroked to 2.4L and Boosted if you want a ride in that lol. And next month when the other turbo kit goes in I should be getting a jump in 100+WHP after that...RedCelica has ridden in it and he thought it was ok.
