Anyways, my website www.triadnc.net will be advertised in the Winston-Salem journal tomorrow. If anyone has a few minutes to look over the site and see if anything breaks, I would appreciate it!

Well I have bad news. The Winston-Salem Journal called and said that will not run the ad because it is competing business.

I offer a free community service. That is absurd to me. I am never buying that newspaper again.

i would try to run the ad again. if they say no again bluff them
say something like "well i talked to my lawyer and he said i have a legal right to put my ad...blah blah blah" "you'll put ads in your paper for callgirls but not this blah blah"

ive had a lot of people pull "crap" on me and i've managed to bs/bluff my way.

as for the site...remember ive been doing ecommerce since march of '96...im being honest...


1. why the frames? kinda weird seeing crazyiguna loading at the bottom and i get pissed when i have to hit reload and it goes to the main page...ie. your classified images didnt fully load

2. glad you got rid of the flashing font that made me blind

3. set your hyperlink borders to zero on the tabs...the blue line around them makes it look funky

4. site(main page) was a little slow...speed is everything

5. the weather link is slowing your load time...delete the highpoint one

6. WHY disable right click function?

i guess thats all. i'll send you an invoice

As for the legal thing, read below. This is the angle I am taking with them:

1) Breach of contract
2) Antitrust violations

Of course the manager was not available when I called. I am going to keep giving it to them until I get my ad run. I once owned circuitcitysucks.com. I see no reason not to own WSJournalSucks.com

A newspaper's rejection of an advertisement may violate antitrust laws, a breach the First Amendment does not protect. To comply with antitrust laws, a newspaper may not refuse to run a competitor's advertisement or refuse an ad to punish an advertiser for using a competing forum. Further, a newspaper cannot refuse to run an ad in order to create or maintain a monopoly in the advertiser's industry. Additionally, a newspaper cannot enter into a contract with an advertiser that forbids the newspaper to run the advertisements of the advertiser's competitor.

As for seeing the crazyiguana at the bottom. My host wont allow me addon domains. So I am using another host to refer to crazyiguana.com/triadnc/ so you will still see the crazyiguana.com at the bottom of your browser.

Also, I just checked and found this out:

winstonsalemjournalsucks.com is available 9.95 a year.

There has been precedence set that the sucks sites are free speech as long as they are about a public company and not a private individual.

 

This is getting out of hand.

I have now had the following periodicals to refuse to run my ads:

WS Journal
Greensboro News & Record
High Point Enterprise
Thrifty Nickel

They all say it is because my site competes with them.

So far, ESP says they will run the ad. We will wait and see.

Also. I asked to speak to a manager with everyone of them and it was "He or she is out to lunch and will call you right back." Guess how many call backs I have received.

Any other ideas of advertisement?
