The best way?!?!

Blue Ridge Parkway!

Several of us drive from the Dragon to Boone/Blowing Rock after the Dragon is over. If you have never gone that way, you HAVE to go that way! Its a little longer, but soooooooooooo worth it!

From Cherokee to Blowing Rock/Boone is about 3 hours if you go non-stop. I could be wrong but will check it out for you and get back. You are more than welcome to joins us for the trip back up. Besides, Cherokee is only about 25 miles from Fontana Village so why not?

This is Google's idea of a best route....

About the same distance or a little more but it is mostly intersate and can get you there possibly an hour quicker.

I look forward to our post dragon parkway run almost as much as the dragon itself. Dragon is obviously a WAY better road but the parkway is pretty fun too and the view is amazing!

MulderATO, BlueIon and myself have done the parkway run to Blowing Rock after every dragon run since our very first one. Its tradition.

After this year's WTD we ran into one other WTD S2k on the way. It is just such an awesome drive.

Only question I have is do we actively search out the detour we had to take last time. I still have the map and 91 was a blast, even if Mulder did almost wet himself...

Post dragon parkway pics:

I plan on going to the dragon as well.

I am from Raleigh and hopefully we can plan to meet up along the way to the Dragon.

What day do you guys plan on taking the Parkway to the Dragon? Friday or Thursday?
