Carolina's Meet in August. Suggestions? Please post!
Folks,I need some assistance with a meeting point for the August Carolina's Meet. Surely, it will be towards the end of August, but I would liek to know where folks would prefer to visit.
Also, keep in mind that in September, we will be having the DragonBall Run and then in October, we will have the Fall Outer Banks Run!
Thanks again!
You know I always vote for Charleston, SC! Not centrally located, but a great place to spend Saturday night (or even the whole weekend!). Sample agenda:
Meet for lunch at Wild Wing in Mt. Pleasant, SC. - easy to get to off of I-26 and 526; big parking lot, lots of locals, great food.
Take a leisurely ride out to Sullivan's Island, head north through Isle of Palms/Wild Dunes area. View beaches and interesting "wild life" (like the volleyball players at the Windjammer)
Take a less-leisurely ride back to Hwy 17, and make a mad dash across the awesome Cooper River Bridges to downtown Charleston.
Jockey with the horse-drawn carriages in downtown.
Finish with a roof-top happy hour at the Veranda, overlooking Charleston Harbor.
(Lots of cool stuff to do if you stay overnight; GREAT restaurants there) The adventurous and/or late-staying types are welcome to hang out on our sailboat later.
Option 2: (Not as fun, but less involved)
Meet in Charlotte, of course! I'll check to see what's going on in August. I'm thinking the 17th 0r 18th would be good dates.

WOW!!! Sheila, I never realized that Charleston would be so captivating. I've stayed several times and honestly, I was never impressed and I stayed at the Charleston Place. The most exciting thing was getting to meet Robert Redford and Jimmy Buffet one morning!
With the DragonBall Run around the corner, then Rick's Fall Colors Tour and then the Fall Outer Banks Run (catching breath)
I want to watch the $$$ spending!
Maybe we could do something in between like Southern Pines or Pinehurst. I've always wanted to visit that area and a one day excursion should prove worthy!
No doubt we will schedule Charleston sometime soon!

North Carolina Speedway is down there in Rockingham. Little to slim chance, but it would be cool to take a lap or to run down the strip. Maybe for a promotional stunt??? Line up all the cars on the track for some cool pics.
Think a Honda dealer from that area could hook us up? It would make for a good photo to hang up in the showroom.

I am working with the track right now about a sponsorship deal. I will ask about us taking in a few laps.
The Rock is a pretty rough track, steeply banked, lots of bumps. Is there any concern about the S2000 bottoming?
