Default CCR event at Zmax

Thanks for making an outsider feel welcome yesterday. Hopefully I provided some entertainment as I spun my way through the DNFs... (later,a missing shock nut was discovered so I am using that as my "poor driving excuse du jour.") Andy (S2kFTW), Flowers and Dr Jon-- great to meet all of you, and I hope to see you in August, and then at NCAC!

Steve

Good to meet you Steve; pretty scary to see that missing tophat nut! I would certainly blame that as well, your run in Jon's car was a very good one indeed! It is pretty crazy how night-and-day a run in his car is versus any of ours. You'll get used to the tail-happy S2K soon enough, as it is a world of difference compared to the Subaru that you are used to autoxing.

Here is a video of my second-gear-grinding final run of the day.

Now if we could only catch those darn MX-5's...

I'll be happy first to catch other S2k drivers! For some reason my first run was timed at 73.xxx, but my video of that run clearly shows it as 62.5 {shrug} Not that it mattered much, but I was really confused how that first run was soooooooo slow. I would like to have had another crack at the course after the extra rubber of the third and fourth heats---I'll just have to keep that in my mind for next time.

I find the ZMax site to be the most interesting venue with the elevation change and combo of on- and off-camber turns. I have the far-end sweeper down pretty well, but the shorter sweepers across the drain (last 1/3 of the course) were tricky to get right.

Yeah we got screwed on our first run, timing said I got a 71 and my video shows a 64. Just before we ran I watched some idiot run over to look at the timing display and trip over the cord (we've all done it before, lol), which unplugged the timing display. That's why the timing display wasn't working when we finished our first runs. I didn't think it would affect the actual timing results in the trailer, but maybe it did. I should have called it in. They stopped runs about six cars after me and about three of those last six guys got re-runs (including Flowers). Oh well, such is life.

It was cool seeing that Prepared S2000! I like the color matched helmet, too. Looking forward to seeing it out some more!

Edit: what's the purpose of those two lights on the front crossbar? The right seems to light up on throttle, the left either off throttle or on brake? Is that for post run video review?

Yes, they're just for video review, ideally to look at between runs. The red light on the left is tied to the brake light circuit. The amber light on the right is tied to the vtec circuit.

Very nice! I did the same thing with my GTech...set the shiftlight function to activate at VTEC. Seems useful, as it confirms that I am not in VTEC often and that lowering to about 5200 rpm or thereabouts should have a beneficial impact. Now I just need to bite the bullet and get the Hondata unit...where's that moneytree again???
