Default Cleared corners and the cops?

Since there's been so much discussion here about clearing corners, and since I've recently received clear corners for my car (which should take less than 1/2 hour for my car per those who've done it before me, but only 2 to change, what's up with s2ks?), I'm wondering whether anyone has had just the clear bulbs and clear corners and ever been hassled by the cops?

Currently on my car are amber corners and clear bulbs, and my package came with clear corners and amber bulbs, but I'm thinking of keeping the clear bulbs with the clear corners for a cleaner look....

Guessing you're talking about your Viper? Regardless, in NC and VA (since you frequent both states), the way the law is written it states something basically to the effect that "the turning indicator must display amber." That's fairly matter of fact in its wording. Thus the idea of a cleared diffuser lense and a clear bulb behind it, would for all practical matters be against the letter of the law.

Now...will a cop cite you for it? Doubtful. Will an inspection station snag it? Likely.

So your kit has an amber bulb. Guhhhh... ... you buy a "clear corner kit" and insert an amber bulb only to have amber showing again, huh? Well, there is hope my friend . Keep the amber bulbs...but lets do a lil trick I've been doing more and more with folks whose corners I've cleared. Mask off "the inner, lower 1/3rd" of the bulb lightly with masking tape. Imagine (if the bulb were inserted into the housing, you would want the masked portion to be that which is facing towards the center/grille and below portions (easy to *see*...hard to say ). Also, of course, mask the wedge part of the bulb so that the filament contacts are not sprayed. DON'T mask the dome of the bulb...just its inner & lower side. Now, use some Hi-Temp Aluminum spray paint and spray that bulb.

Once it has dried, and you remove the masking tape, what you should be left with is a bulb that has *some limited amber showing*...but not easily visible when the bulb is sitting behind the diffuser. But when you actuate your turn signal or emergency flashers....viola......you have a "turning indicator that displays amber."

If that don't make sense in reading it...and if you have time to wait just a bit...the next time I have to paint some of my own bulbs up for a conversion, I'll be sure to take some pics and post them .

Now I'm changing gears from what I think to be slaughterj's lightbulbs...but are you saying that you found ambers w/ mirror finish for our S2000's front turnsignal (big) bulb? I'd be curious to know where. Thanks.

Actually, I believe I have clear bulbs already on the car, with amber covers. My kit came with amber bulbs and clear covers. Thus I can keep my clear bulbs and just use the clear covers Will confirm at the point in which I remove my amber covers.

Thanks for the tip though, should I feel concerned about the cops, I might go that route - I hate to give them a reason to pull me over, I prefer them to just make them up

I really don't think anyone would notice the "clear" diffusers. Especially with one of Rick's diffusers. They look so "factory equipped." I know that they never garnered a 2nd glance from the tech performing my inspection just a few months ago.
