Thumbs up CR or not to CR?

Whats up Guys!

As most of you know i just got my Silverstone AP1 a few months back. Well i decided to ride to Honda to see what they got in. I get to the lot in the back i see a CR in the distance ( back of the lot) i turn to my girlfriend and ask her if she wants to see a smurf looking S2000. We ride over to the CR. Look at it and to my suprise, i absolutely loved it. Loved the color (Apex Blue) its bright but not baby blue like some pictures make it look; the wheels, the front (originally thought it looked like a snow plow in pictures, not bad looking at all in person), the wing ( yes it doesnt look like an APR or some other b*llshit ricer wing, it has nice curve in the middle and actually looks functional with the hardtop) The interior i loved nice touch, had ac and radio. Well after 2 weeks i have gone pretty much every night to look at it ( when sells people arent around). The car i first thought was the most ugly, hidious thing Honda EVER made has actually grown and found a soft spot in my heart. I plan to own a CR (Apex Blue or White make that decision when the time comes) in 2-3 years when i can own 2 s2000's and have my own house, garage, etc. Plus i learned buying a new car off the lot isnt the best thing to do. I have however considered doing a full cr conversion to my 01 Silverstone ( and keeping it Silverstone before i get asked if im painting yet another s2000, the answer is no, learned my lesson from the last s2000) Do you think its worth doing the conversion? Was wanting to hear your thoughts on the CR, if you hated it like i did when you first saw then later changed your outlook on it, your thoughts and feelings on it now, etc?

I've driven a few. Th CR is a beast; I love it! For me, however, I like having the convertible top option too much to own one around here with all our "isolated thundershowers". I am not ready to be top-up 90% of the time.

I agree with you re Apex Blue as well - the color grows on you. I would have preferred Monte Carlo Blue, but the Apex is fine, too.

Just a question about the CR. I did read about it when it was announced and I know Honda said that takes 2 seconds off its lap time on their test track or whatever track they were testing it on.

However, is the 0-60 time and 1/4 mile improved on the CR version?

I still would love for Honda to put the last NSX engine in the S2000 as a special edition car!

Jay, I think the AP1 is fine as it is. I'd leave it alone.
IMO if you start converting it to a CR wanabe, you might end up looking rice.

The CR's gains are mostly in stickier tires and springs/shocks that can be duplicated with a set of Koni's and some Ground Control springs/perches. The rest is just eye candy.

Nah, when the time comes, buy an older (or wrecked) AP1 and turn it into something FASTER than the CR:

I think it would be OK to do a CR conversion. People do the AP1 to AP2 conversion and everyone accepts it. It's cheaper than buying a new car and if you still want the top down option, it's there still. Just don't put the CR badges on.But I personally have only driven top down once since I got my hard top about a year and a half ago. Don't really miss it. The ONLY time I miss it is when I'm blasting under a bridge. Other than that, ehhh.
