Thumbs up CSI Fans... Help - What caused this damage?

Going out to lunch today I notice these marks in my bumper...
Initial reactions:
- Someone hit me... probably not, damage in unique location.
- I hit something... seriously doubt it.
- My wife hit something... better not go there.
- The valet at Hendrick Porshe hit something... if he was parking 911s, I doubt it.
- I have no clue...

Help me out here...

I have little gouges running along the bumper.
The gouges hold many little rocks (verified under high-magnification).
There are many paint chips around the headlamp assembly and on the windshield.

Even if this was road construction related, it seems too concentrated.

Concrete. That's my guess. Or a very, very small bird!

Ya know how you read on our boards about folks mis-judging the length of the S2000's nose...and running the car up over a parking lot curb? Yeah, well, imagine that same poor judgment entering a parking lot with light poles like this strewn about .

My guess? Time to interrogate the wife

A few things to mention...
The damage is along the top surface just in fron to the headlight as well as along the vertical surface. The damage location is also isolated to an area that would not be considered a leading edge when turning or parking (fender or bumper edge near plates). That leads me to believe that the concrete pole scenario is a long shot...

Thanks for the moral support...

Just throwing my guess in... Pressure washer?

Are you sure those are little rocks or could they be little balls of melted and reharden plastic?

What I am thinking is that someone was washing your car with an over powered washer, or too fine of a stream. They left it resting on the one area for a period of time and heat due to friction was produced and the plastic started breaking down and gouching and scattering.

Whatcha think? A possibility?

A good guess but unlikely... I wash my car personally with a soft mitt.

Another possibility that my engineers have been considering is a groundskeeper edging the lawn at work with a weed-whacker... kicked stones up damaging the grill and creating the paint chips all over the hood.

I am almost considering a bra (I thought I would never violate my mchine that way) to protect from further damage during my I-85 commute.
