Default Diff is getting Loud, what are my options?

So with 130k miles on my car and the stock Diff, its getting damn near the time to do something with it. I am wondering is it possible to rebuild one or is the only option replacing it with a brand spanking new one? I do know I want a set of 4.56 gears something BAD, but I am quite sure that just replacing the old gears with that set wont be a proper fix would it or is it? I know Honda was trying to rip my left testicle by trying to charge me 5k for a new diff assembly. What options to I have?

I'm pretty sure all you need is some 4.56 and a diff overhaul, new bearings etc....I don't see why you would need a brand new one....

You'll get some good advise in the UTH forum.

Hey Civictos2000, didnt you say you know someone who runs a rearend shop? I wouldnt mind getting some ballpark estimates on the whole rebuild job + install of gears... anyway you could provide a guestimate?

I'd get the 4.56s if I needed a rebuild/retrofit. If they just whhine, you may want to start by simply changing the fluid.

Once again, I would suggest calling Triad Auto, 393-0220.

I'd follow David's advice - the Triad Auto guys are recommended from some other S owners I've met.
