Jay,
Good to see you on the local board. I can't help you out with restaraunts and such in the Cary area but I'm sure some of the Raleigh-Cary locals can help you out. If you get over to the Greensboro or Winston-Salem area let me know....

Cool to have you in the Carolinas! Did work bring you here? Hope all is well. I'm sure that the Raleigh folks will help you out. Be wary of Busch. Just kidding. Enjoy your stay!

The capitol building downtown Raleigh is probly the only state building that is worth checking out. There are a bunch of museums too. Not that they would be better than what you have back home though..

There are a few big restaurants at the Streets of Shouth Point Mall (I havent been to any so I can't recall the names).

For Sushi there is Kanki. PFChangs is pretty popular too (not sushi just in general).
Crazy Fire (several locations) is pretty good (Mongolian grill). One of the members' family owns it so you can talk to h im about a deal.

If you wanna have beef and have some money to throw around go to the ANGUS BARN. Just make sure you bring $200 :-)

Vinny's (Six Forks road) is good for beef too but it is kind of small.

FYI I have no idea if any of those places are chains so forgive me if you have already eaten there.

Matt, in your Italian section your forgot: Assagio's.
IMO the best Italian restraunt in Raleigh/Cary, and it just so happens to reside in downtown Cary. If you have a hankering for some amazing veal, check it out.

enjoy your stay.
