Default Eliminating the "cat"

Ok - after 98,000 miles on my 2001 I've started getting the error code that my cat isn't at 100% efficiency. Since the cat is shot anyway, and SC doesn't have any pollution inspections, is it better to just put a "test pipe" in it's place ? Has anyone notice any engine change after they've done this ? I'm think the "high flo" cat might be getting a little clogged at this point too.

Test pipe was one of the first mods that I did along with exhaust. You just have to make sure to get a O2 bung adapter or it could throw engine codes.

No yearly inspection in SC

That being said, I still kept the cat I took off when I installed the tp just in case I ever need it.

Hate to preach, but test pipes are great for track events, but if you drive your car every day, is it really that difficult to live with cleaner air?

I'm in the process of restomoding a 65 Mustang, that I'm planning on putting high flow cats on, just because the world does not need ANY more pollution, and I'll only be driving it about 1000 miles per year.

Just because SC does not have annual inspections is no reason to pollute more than you have to.

Replace your cat and feel like you are contributing to the air we breath!
