Funky boss!
Ok, I tried to post this earlier but the site has been acting weird for me. I'll try to not make this so long either. But I work for a printing company in Greensboro and recently just got my 90 day raise, which obviously was good! For some reason, my boss has picked on me to help the lady in bindery with large deliveries, despite the fact its not what I got hired for. I don't mind helping anyone but a month and half ago I injured my shoulder playing disc golf and I self diagnosed it online as bursitis. Its painful as hell and sometimes feels like a mule has kicked me in the shoulder. Yesterday I reluctantly helped the lady on a delivery as per command of my boss and injured my shoulder further (just as it was getting better). So TODAY, once again my boss told me to gon with her on a delivery and I told him that I was incapable of doing so since my shoulder was re-injured from helping with the delivery yesterday, of which she was capable of doing herself. He gets all pissed off and tells me that I can go ahead and go home and he would mail me my check since I cant help lift anything. First of all, it isnt my job its HER job to lift the stuff, I didnt get hired to help with that crap and second of all im freaking injured, I dont mind helping her but damn Im winged here. I talked him out of firing me for now, but I just dont think it was right that he could threaten me like that. Is there anything legally right that I can say to him over this situation. I dont want that crap sitting over my head.
PS - sorry I havent been as active as normal, lots of stuff on my plate lately. Hopefully I can get back to the norm by spring.

Yea, I think he went overboard with the situation. I think the woman who I was supposed to help told him before I had a chance to, that I was unable to help her... so I think she may have made it more dramatic than what it was. Thats just a hunch though.
Just do stuff that'll make the lady think you're a wierdo and she will WANT to do the job by herself.
Y'know, pick your nose, fart alot, talk to yourself, stuff like that. Not stuff that'll get you arrested or anything.

My suggestion would be this...
If your company has an HR department, ask to speak with your HR generalist.
If not, unfortunately...the only suggestion I'd have is to look elsewhere...
Had he indeed fired you...wow...you could have really had him by the BALLZ!!
Not that you'd be suing for $$$, but you'd get him/his company in serious trouble with the NCDept of Labor.

^^ Not sure the laws in your state, but in many states aggravating a pre-existing condition is compensable. If the company is large enough to be covered under workers comp, you should file a claim immediately. He will not be able to fire you for refusing to lift boxes and it will make it more difficult to fire you without well documented cause.
