Default Gave away My02

[Well after nearly 12 years i finally parted with My02. My son finally got his drivers permit and the S was his gift...

I am looking for a new sports toy! I did replace my S with a 2011 E350 Sport 4matic - not nimble as the S but it will work until I buy me a new sports car (Hopefully in August!!). lol

Great Idea. My Son is very responsible - maybe more than some grown ups on the forum.. lol Believe it or not the S doesn't turn into speed demons! I hope.

We just had 3 teens die in a crash near here. Great kids, from what everyone said, they were on the way home from a church function. 16 year old got a Dodge Challenger for his birthday, which was a couple of days before. There estimated speed was 129 MPH. http://www.wral.com/news/local/story/9687375/

I am sure your son is a very responsible person but the S can be a very intoxicating drug as I am sure we are all aware.

Nice Mercedes. Good luck finding another sports car.

A lot of teens have been having accidents as of late. It is sad however none of them were in a S2000. That being said- any car you give a teen or young adult can certainly turn into very intoxicating drug thus turning into a street race story/accident. Believe me I am closely montoring his actions. He just took me for a spin and I must say - it felt strange not being the driver.

Oh, I found my new drug!! CTS V coup or ISF

Nice job.....you didn't sound like the type to just let him go off on his own.

CTS-V.......nice!

ISF has far to many drivers aids and just feels dead to me, to many electronics involved. no idea on the CTSV. I would recommend a C63. I drive all sorts of crazy things and the C63 still gave me some real excitement. by far the best out of this range of cars.

My 2002 S2000 was my early graduation gift to me in high school (I got it towards the end of my junior year). It was my third car (wrecked my first ->94 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2wd) but I did really well in school and proved to be a responsible young adult. However, the S2000 is a performance car and after I got use to the car, it took a lot of will power to stay out of trouble with it. Then I went to a track day with my dad (one of the best father-son moments my dad and I have gone through to date) and I learned what my limits were in the car. I also learned how non-controlled the roads were in the real world as compared to track events and it scared me out of pushing it on the street. Maybe that's something you could consider. A high performance drivers education (HPDE) event might be suitable for him once he gets comfortable with the car.
