Default Help!

Alright so I've started having problems shifting in to reverse. At a stand still I push down, go to the right and pull back but it takes a few tries and a lot of pressure to put it into the gear.

Also at a stand still it's difficult to get in to first though not nearly as bad as reverse.

While I'm at it I think my clutch is slipping but I've never had a bad clutch so I don't know if it's actually slipping. While I'm driving say in first gear, I shift to second and as I'm sure you know there's a noticeable grab and pull however lately the grab has been a lot smoother and the acceleration not quite so "pully". Now to some who prefer a smoother ride this may be nice however I believe it may be a sign that my disk is worn down and I need a new one... Help yes?

It often happens if you have not pushed the clutch to the floor. I found that I was not fully disengaging so I pulled my seat forward one notch.
It made a big difference.

See I thought that too, so I did exactly that but my foot is driving the petal to the ground and it's doing the same thing. Could it maybe be a clutch line issue?

Hey Hunter, a couple of things. First you usually put it in reverse when you first get in the car. It is getting colder so the tranny is much colder when you have to put it into reverse. Mine takes a little work to get it into reverse also. Just take it easy. Second you most be getting more used to your car. Is it just that YOU are getting smoother with the clutch and it is not the clutch slipping?

Have you thought about changing out the MTF? I am not sure if you have done it yey but you have a MY01. If it hasn't been changed in some time that would contribute to the issue with reverse.

Just some things to think about. As far as the clutch slipping if you know someone else with a S let them drive your car and see if they feel like the clutch is slipping.

Do you have the same problem if the engine is off? It may be that either your clutch master or slave cylinders are leaking, which can cause the clutch to drag, even when the pedal is fully depressed. Have you flushed and bled the clutch? Try that too.

Yes I am having issues when she's off too. Chances are this weekend i'm just going to do an overhaul. Clutch, Tranny, Diff, and oil change
Great idea. I would say if you do those things your problems will most likely be fixed. There are DYI for all of those but if you need help finding anything post up.

Hunter, give me a call tomorrow. My hi-flow cat came in yesterday. I have CQ tomorrow, but I'm gonna be up at the shop on Saturday. As for tranny/diff fluid, I use Pennzoil Synchromesh tranny fluid and Mobil One 75W-90 Diff fluid, on both the street and track, and hasn't failed me once. Make sure you have all the washers necessary, as you don't want to reuse the crush washers for the fill and drain bolts. If you really want, I'll take your car for a spin on Saturday and tell you what I feel.
