I just bought my wife a lenovo laptop to replace the Toshiba that is just too slow.


I went thru the set up last night and all worked well.

This morning she went to sign on but the password did not work. We have run every deviation of the characters that there could be and nothing works.

Before I spend more frustrating hours calling tech services, I thought someone here might know how to reset the password. I may have to drive to RTP and see IBM to get it resolved.

Google the Ultimate Boot CD, you can download it off the web for free. It has a Windows password cracker built into it.

Theres got to be a way to get to it in BIOS. A quick google search didn't give me the results I was lookin for

 

Getting into the BIOS will not do anything for him. He needs to reset the windows password.

Lee, did you check to see if maybe Caps Lock was on when she put the password in? That's a common mistake.

 

If you don't get it by Monday let me know Lee. I work in Nashville and can ride over and use my reset disk to get you in.

 

I really appreciate that offer but I now have it working.


Believe it or not, I called tech help and got a person who knew how to solve it. I nearly fell out of the chair when I saw it fixed.

This laptop has a button(in a very obscure place) that allows a complete system reset.

I used to have a thinkpad....i did the same thing, it turned out the numeric pad had been turend on, but the indicator light on the keyboard didn't work.

So some of the letters I was typing were numbers. Im intersted in where this obscure button is???
