Help! My rear window cracked
Merry yada yada,
I just went by a friend's house and she went outside to 'check out' my car. Long story short; she opened the top before I could stop her and I heard my back window (plastic) crack wide open. What can I do? Is it covered? I have the 7yr/100,000 coverage plus an extended warrenty I purchased from Rick Hendrick. Do you think they will replace it or am I going to have to purchase one?
What should I do????????

just having a little problem understanding exactly what happened.
"opened the top..." did she put the top down improperly?
this is the first case i've heard of a plastic window cracking.
could you also explain what kind of damage it caused.
like they say a picture is worth a thousand words.

I also don't understand how the window just cracked. I assume you had something stowed in the conv. top well and the top collapsed on the item and split the window. That or either the window was dried up.
Ok........
Plastics are a unique material that can be ductile under one condition, and with a relatively small change in condition be brittle. A common example of this is seen
with SillyPuddy. If one pulls this material slowly it can be stretched almost indefinitely (ductile). However, if one pulls quickly on this material it breaks
(brittle). Decreasing the temperature of the SillyPuddy, decreases the stretching rate at which it becomes brittle. In essence, plastics have important
properties that are temperature and time (rate) dependent

I'm assuming it was pretty cold outside when she put the top down...I think you should make her pay for it if it isn't covered under warranty.

This happened to me not more than 5 days ago to. It was to cold outside and I live in fricking California! The replacement windshield is like $230 which is quite of a rip off. Since your car is covered under warranty of course you can go to the dealer and get it replaced for free. Also, ask them if you can get the glass in the back.
Hope this helps and good luck.
