help from my s2k community
hey guys,
as several of you know, my wife and I have been expecting our first child any day. That day came, starting Monday morning at about 2 am and baby Caleb was born at 4:26 pm on Monday.
Everything was fine through labor, but the doctor could not get Caleb out the "normal" way and the baby went through a lot of stress. He was turned to the side and was much larger than they originally thought (almost 8 lbs). His heart rate slowed dramatically and they rushed my wife off for an emergency c-section. This was like a movie to me, it seemed so unreal. the nurses literaly ran to the OR with my wife, and me running closely behind. I had to stop to put the full suit, bootys and mask with face guard on before i could enter.
Once I got in, there were about 15 people frantically working to get my son out. It got very bad. Probably the worst experience of my life, and i was in the hospital for 16 days with bowel surgery. He was halfway down the birth cannal which made it a very violent procedure to get him out. Then.... his heart stopped, they got him out and started CPR on him and his heart started back up after being stopped for 1 1/2 minutes.
There has been a lot of things happen since then, but to make this already long story a little shorter, he is in intensive care, but stable. he is on a ventilator and we have not been able to hold him. He may have some brain damage, but they think it is mild. He will be in the NICU for about another week.
My wife is healing fine, but it is a difficult situation.
I am asking everyone that I know to pray for us if you feel comfortable doing so.
Thanks a lot guys.
Rich
