Hi,

I'm at the Shell on S Saunders in Raleigh just off of I40/440. Never had a problem with this car starting, and it has a new battery. Connections seem good. I have my tools but can't figure out where to start. Ignition clicks once when I press Start, not multiple clicks like an alternator. Engine not even trying to turn over. All accessories etc were working fine on the way here from Fayetteville. Any ideas?

I can't imagine it's the battery. This is a 3 month old Optima Yellow Top and I just made a 1.5 hour drive. It has not sounded weak starting ever since install. I cleaned off battery terminals and it made no difference. Pulled and reinserted all fuses and relays. Checked all wire connections in engine bay and all are secure. Car has full tank of gas, oil level is good, coolant/water and a new battery. Hmmmmm. It was like night and day. Like a connection is bad somewhere. ????????????

 

does it sounds like the starter even try to crank? you might have a bad starter. Try to find a long stick and tap on the starter a couple time (not sure if you can reach it from the hood)

 

Thank you guys so much for the outpouring of support earlier tonight. A friend came to help me push start the car, and it's at his house now. I am going to take the car to a parts store first thing in the morning and have them check the alternator. If the alternator is good (and I am expecting it to be) then I will be scrambling around Raleigh trying to find a starter for the car tomorrow morning before the tech day. If I can get hold of one before the tech day, I will push start the car again, bring it and install it there.

Again, thanks so much to Kevin, Brett, Lee, and the other two or three people who called me offering to help. I really appreciate it, you are all stand-up guys.
