If the Civil War folks were so concerned over the "protection" of this area, they should have purchased the land/property with funds/contributions/etc. and then set up a park or something as rememberance.

To come in now and say, "whoa, wait a minute...this has Civil War significance, don't build here," is lame. If we had to "preserve" EVERY portion of soil that was tread upon during the Civil War, we'd have less and less areas for development.

So I'm guessing the large textile plant fought the same issues?

Nope...this is some hippie, history lovin', hater of new development who has come up and is using the Civil War as their defense to stop/slow the project.

It's the "new" South, on with development.

No kidding. Folks need to move on... You can't move forward if you're only looking behind you.
