Hope all is well with everyone out there on the east coast. When I see all the coverage and the build-up, I think I am glad that we have the earthquakes out here...It hits and 30 seconds to a minute later, it is gone...
Gook luck to everyone. And may everyone come out of this safely.
Here in Wilmy the worst is over. We are south of where the storm made landfall so we were spared the worst of it. The beaches had hurricane force gusts and sustained winds of around 70 mph.
The eye came really close to where airgate is. I'm sure he's without power and won't be posting for a while.
Amazingly, we never lost power in our home. It went off a few times, but would immediately come back on. The rest of New Bern (including my office) lost power around 11am and had restored power around 6pm. We were extremely lucky!
No downed trees in our yard (and we have 2 acres of property). Like I said, we were lucky. There were some extreme gusts of wind and sustained wainds of nearly 100mph. After the storm, Anna and I drove around to make sure my office was okay and check on her parents and my mother.
Business in New Bern will be pretty normal tomorrow and I am very grateful for that. It's worth repeating, we were LUCKY!
Before Isabel visited.
Here are some pictures Anna and I took today after Isabel passed.
airgate, thanks very much for posting your photos. They really do make it more understandable than just words. Glad to hear you faired well. It must have been quite exciting and scary too.
Here's one my sister in Falcon, Colorado sent to me in California.
