Huskergirl Should Head Honda Marketing!
SubscribeI can't believe what I'm seeing. First the TV ad that was totaly uninspiring and now a TWO PAGE ad in R&T that shows only the clutch, break and gas pedals with the lame words "He loves me" "He loves me not" over them! At the bottom in tiny print is "At the heart of the boldly resculpted, race-inspired S2000 lies a 240-horsepower engine reengineered to deliver more torque. Because love means never having to slow down."
What?
Of all the things the ad COULD have said.
The first time I skimmed through the magazine I didn't even care to read the totally unimpressive ad. The second time I skimmed through the mag and saw the ad I thought "What a lousy, ineffective ad" and decided to read the small print to see who would pay big bucks for so little bang. When I saw it was for an S2000 I became outraged! Its as though Honda is EMBARRASSED. To not even show the gorgeous lines of the car and talk about her superior handling characteristics sells her short.
Honda has a real jewel in the S2000 and they don't know how to use it to their advantage! "Love means never having to slow down." GOD I'm gonna barf.
So Kalan, what would you do different?

The first time I saw the add, I knew just by looking at the pedals that is was for an S2000, and I loved it. I even took it in to work to show my co-workers, who loved it.
However, that being said, I am a current owner, and for an advertisement to attain new buyers, I agree that it is lacking.

I have not yet seen the ad so I cannot accurately comment on what it looks like. Just reading the copy with no corresponding photo gave me the impression of choosing between running over my significant other or not running over them. Thats probably not what they were after (or I just have a morbid mind
). Besides, I think that is what Mercedes are used for.
There are a 1000 different directions to go with it...A bikini clad babe sitting on top of the engine would garner the most results for awareness- its true and sad- with most american males (don't get all huffy!). However, I speculate that the S2000 owner is a more educated and slightly higher income avg. than most, therefore would prefer more clever and informative copy. Details specifying value and performance. Plus, we are somewhat vain, so we want to see what we look like in the car, where the car can take us, and what it will do when we get there.
I don't know- maybe show a picture of an S drifting into the company parking lot. Or better, taking the curves of the Dragon. If Honda was smart they would post a contest on this site for ad ideas!

All they need to do is play some of the helicopter footage from Fall Colors and mask all the audio off except the engine.
