Will there ever be a Honda as good as the S2000? Probably not. Here’s why…

Wink Never again! ..

There will never be another S2000. EVER ... A raw, reasonably priced "take no prisoners" sports car without compromise or electronic nannies that will save you from yourself when you get in over your head fueled by testosterone, ego, ignorance or arrogance. She will bite anyone ...HARD! and take a piece out of those who have balls bigger than their talent, brains or abilities. S2000's command respect and remind me that Lewis Hamilton or Ayrton Senna I ain't. Still? .... I wouldn't want her another way. No there will never be another S2000. I'm fine with that.

Increasingly, I don't think so. Honda today would probably never develop a bespoke platform and engine for a sports car, and never make it so raw and focused. They're starting to do cool stuff again, but nothing on the same level. The CTR is badass, but it's a FWD Civic with a typical 2.0T. The 2.0T Accord Sport w/manual is pretty cool to see unveiled in 2017, but that's about as far as that goes. The NSX is a good car, but not quite the same as the original, and definitely far from the bare-bones ethos of the S2000.

Ya i cant see it, if they do release another one it will include the same electronics as the CTR imo. As long as you can turn them all off it might turn out ok though but you'll have no NA motor screaming to 9k im afraid.

Well - yes but that can be said for just about any new Japanese vehicle. It will be interesting to see how cars like the new NSX will age.
There are very few manufactures making future classics that enthusiasts of OUR generation will appreciate (purist types of vehicles). One that comes to mind is the Porsche GT4/Spyder.
Regulations and market demand is killing it for us.

The new Supra is looking more promising from its LT1 concept to the current spy shots. Will see in a few more months.

Agree on the GT4, however that's German. The 86 is a fairly timeless looking sport coupe overall that is Japanese, however its entry level on the performance scale. There is a midrange void that the Japanese need to fill and they have always been the best at it in the past. Trends since the market crash of 09 to present solidified the meager course of offerings, and then of course current trends of technology and regulation thrown in. But that all aside, I think if Japanese manufactures really wanted to fill that void with another sexy/timeless looking high performance mid priced sports car, it could be done. The desire just seems to be on shorter supply.
