Default IP Cameras

Anyone here have experience with these? Ideally these would be infrared/night vision that I can view on my phone (preferably an app) or through a web portal if on a computer. Short term I'd like coverage of the front porch, side entry, and back patio. Longer term I'd extend that to the barn we're going to build, about 350' from the house, with one camera per stall (total of 3) and maybe 1 or 2 cameras looking at pastures....so a total of 8. I'll be trenching water and power out to the barn so can drop so Cat6 cables if necessary, and should have decent access to all of the house spots via the attic and unfinished upstairs.

Prefer night vision so we don't have to mess with motion sensors. Budget TBD, but preliminary research looks like $150 per camera gets you an outdoor 920p or 1080p unit with 90' visibility without supplemental IR lighting.

So maybe 8 cameras @ $150 plus a 4 port POE switch at the barn for $100, plus $150 per 1000 feet of Cat6....ballpark of $1500?

I have looked into this camera. Fujikam FI-361 HD, Black cloud IP/Network, Wireless, Video Monitoring, Surveillance, security camera, plug/play, Pan/Tilt with Two-Way Audio and Night Vision

Though it's going to be used more as a monitoring camera for my father-in-law down in Florida if he allows it. This way to make sure all is ok and we can talk with him incase he turns off the ringer on his phone again!

Only thing that has me hesitant is that the info flows through China servers. So I am not 100% on security and encryption etc. I am hoping that Apple comes out with something that would be a good fit as part of their HOME KIT. This to tie in Garage Door, cameras, smoke detector, thermostat, door locks, outlets, TV all into one ECO environment. We shall see.

A couple of years ago I bought a system from Swann. It can handle up to 8 POE cameras and came with a 3Tb hard drive. Has worked great so far. 1080p resolution. I can monitor the cameras on my IPhone or IPad if I am not at home. Their customer service is great. Only problem is that for some reason it requires a static IP address to work reliably.

I wouldn't trust Apple or Google with my video either. Why does Apple record record every Seri conversation for 2 years? Why did Google over pay for Nest? They want that data for something. I also don't want ADP or CPI peeping in my house without my knowledge.

Are there any stand-alone systems? Something where the video is recorded on your computer and your computer dials out in case of emergency. A direct pier to pier connection to your smartphone for remote monitoring and configuration without requiring a third party server would be nice.
