Lines at the gas stations....
I havent seen crazy prices in the Raleigh area yet, but then again I havent really been actively looking either. People did this BS when Katrina hit. I worked at a shop with a gas station attached and they ran us out of gas for three days. We ended up shutting off the pumps just so we would have something left for an emergency, but it was rediculous.

I was in Atlanta this week and was coming back last night for the Clemson home game. I filled up around Sugarloaf yesterday at lunch and paid $3.99 for premium. I got to Anderson yesterday and pulled over to eat dinner and it was $3.89 for regular at the Race Track of of exit 19.
This whole run on gas really makes me angry. It's no wonder this country is in such a financial hurt. With all the exploitation of consumables. Gas has increased on average 30% per year for the past 7 years.
I think these gas prices have got to stop. I don't know how we can stop it, but something has to be done.

Maybe it's the media's fault. They tell everybody to go fill up, we're going to run out, there's a storm coming. Maybe they should be telling people, conserve this weekend, prices will be up but they'll come back down if you give it a couple days.

The media is not telling people to go get gas. The media is simply stating the facts that...
1) People are flocking to fill up.
2) There are subsequently long lines.
3) And there are also higher prices (an obvious result of the higher demand/lower supply).
Which only stands to reason that MORE people are going to run out to get gas.

Now, I'm not saying that the media doesn't have a significant contribution in the panic.
However, regardless of how they report it (even suggesting that people conserve) the general population is going to come to the same conclusion they've already come to - that we all better get our gas before it runs out.
The best thing the media could do to minimize/eliminate their contribution to the panic is to just not mention it at all, but of course that'll never happen.
You can call 803-734-3970 to report suspected price gouging. or email gasprices@scattorneygeneral.com or call 271-5210.
I am out of town, but evidently the story was on WYFF4..

I am in ATL visiting family. I was worried that I would not have enough gas to get to g'ville. But I went out last night at 1 am and found gas no problem with no lines. But alot of stations are shut down here.
It'll only get worse with each storm that passes through the Gulf region
They've got us all over a barrell, so to speak
I'm out of town currently, but yesterday morning I was told it spiked to $4.99/gal at certain spots in Asheboro... I've since heard it's fallen some
