Default McMcDragon

I will be at the Dragon next week (25th-28th) with a couple of friends, if anyone wants to join us/will be in the area. The Miatas will be there that weekend, but we hope to get some runs in Wednesday/Thursday.

I would love to go again in August with the McDragons, but I have to take one of my daughters to school that weekend... bummer.

If I don't see you next week, have a great time in August.

Perry! We've missed seeing you around. Have fun next weekend; just try to avoid the annual "midnight naked run" the Miata owners are reported to make!

It looks like I won't be able to make this one

You guys have a great time and please be careful.
You never know when you might encounter one of these.

I miss you guys too. Visiting colleges and getting ready for my son's Barmizvah consumed most of the weekends... hopefully things will calm down in the fall.

Ouch!... Wasn't that a Seinfeld episode?.."look! fat ugly guy is getting into a Miata...!"

I'm going with two guys who have never been to the dragon.. I'm sure we will be keeping things safe/sedate ....at least for the first couple of runs...

We had a blast last week on the dragon (and skyway). I was lucky enough to get a lot of seat time in the elise... what an amazing car. My friend has all of the ground effects/diffusers etc. on this car. We were on the skyway all day friday. It didn't seem to matter what the road did, the faster I went, the more stable it felt...scary, sick, incredible.

We switched cars all week and kept telling my two friends, "When you're driving my car, don't cross the yellow line when you go by Killboy. Those pix have a funny way of ending up on the S2k forum." Fortunately, it looks like they behaved.

I hope you guys have good weather and a lot of fun when you go in a couple of weeks.

Okay, I'm out of the loop.

Perry, when did you get an Elise? I thought you just got rid of the Miata for the S? Or am I older than I thought?

You now have an Elise? Is that your CO Elise?

I'm just trying to stay in the loop with this group for when I get another sports car.

I don't even think I knew you were in Charlotte! I'm bad with keeping up.

you're not crazy... my next door neighbor, Ross Saldarini, is the one who has the orange elise. He owns Sector 111 which is the company that sells most of the after-market parts for Lotus. He is "forced" to drive an Elise as a "company vehicle"... tough life. I have been trying to get him to come to WTD/DBR for a couple of years, but he travels a lot. He was home all last week, that's mainly why we went up to the Dragon. I went with Ross and a guy who owns an M3.

Ross has never had any driving lesson/experience driving fast. There was one sad moment, where he was driving down the dragon with a line of miatas piling up behind him....

I love (and still own) my S. I have to say, though, that I was totally impressed with driving his car. It was sooo light/quick and responsive. I would let them (Ross/Bob) get a couple of miles ahead on the skyline and then just floor it up through the gears. I looked down at one point and the speedo was still going "up" at 130. The car at that speed felt incredibly stable and composed. Words can not describe how awesome it was. I have been fortunate to drive a lot of different types of fast cars, but I have never had as much fun as I did with Ross' car last week. After getting to thrash the Lotus for 3 days, getting back into the S was like driving an SUV.

If I didn't have 2 kids in college and student loans (still) of my own, there would be an Exige S in my garage.
