Unless any of those from Chucktown have any better suggestions.

Just some suggestions:
-At our last meet we met at the Mt Pleasant Pier ( http://www.ccprc.com/index.aspx?NID=1171 ) 71 Harry M. Hallman, Jr Blvd, Mt Pleasant. This is under the big bridge that connects downtown Charleston to Mt. Pleasant. This is a good location because if you choose to eat downtown Charleston it allows a group drive over the bridge and there are a lot of nice restaurants in Mt. Pleasant as well.
-Since you all are traveling from such a far ways away, do you really want to eat at a chain restaurant?
Parking downtown Charleston may be a bit tough and a garage may be your best bet (but be cautious of those with steep entrances/exits) or paid parking lots.
My suggestions in no particular order:

Forgot about the big bridge. Good call. and as far as downtown, parking sucks, but what about the parking garage across from Sticky Fingers on Meeting St? I usually park at the self pay parking across the street from Sticky Fingers behind the coffee shop, but not since I lowered my car more. It is a pretty steep entrance. Or what about parking down at the grocery store parking lot down by Big John's off East Bay St.? You think they would tow? if not, it's close enough to downtown. And as far as eating, I don't know too many "non-chain" restaurants. Would also like to maybe take the guys to the USS Yorktown and the sub next to it and let em poke around and check it out, as we don't have any of that stuff near us. Think Folly Beach will still be packed then? Lot of good food down there as well. Also I remember getting good food at The Triangle in West Ashley next to my cousin's place.

I will most definitely meet up.
Suggestions for driving: very limited in general; we're plagued with a lot of open space.
There's quite a few scenic drives, but lacking in the twisties. Battery is of course gorgeous, but no speed whatsoever.
Ashley River road (Highway 61) from Summerville - Charleston is really pretty, and if traffic is light you can get good speed, but again, no twisties. It's a pleasant way to get into downtown, meeting up with Savannah Highway.
Going northeast, there's the Francis Marion National Forest. Again, pretty scenery, with a few turns, but mostly just pretty. It's about an hour drive each way.
Going way north, there's Caeser Head State Park, home of Highway 276. Road & Track tested some cars out there recently. Unfortunately, it's about 4 hours away.
For food, I personally recommend avoiding Hyman's, if only because you're looking at a 2+ hour wait here in the peak of tourist season. It's not seafood, but The Tattooed Moose just off of Meeting St. is amazing. Duck Confit Club with pork belly - best sandwich EVAR.

Yes, as of now, there will be 6 or 7 of us coming from the MD area, and I believe still meeting DougEFresh on the way down in NC. We will all be staying at a hotel near the airport for the weekend. still to be determined.
I will most definitely meet up.

Yes, as far as food we can play by ear. DEF want to take some pics down by the battery, possibly at Patriots point with the Yorktown in the background. I know the roads lack a lot of curves down there, as I was stationed at Goose Creek for a short while.
By the way, my name is Brett Spellbring. Feel free to contact me at any point on Facebook (promise I am the only one on there with that name) or my cell, as that is the best way to get a hold of me. 410-490-4359. I guess I would like to set the meeting point for Saturday. Does 10am at the parking lot at the North Charleston Mall by Merchants tire, Hooter, and the Movie Theater sound ok for everyone?
