Default Moving to Charlotte, NC

First of all...A big hello to all the Carolinas' S2000 Owners! It's been a while since I had the time to visit the site or ride in the car for that matter. You have to love work! (sarcasm). Anyway to my question; Where in Charlotte, NC would a single twenty somthing want to live? I have been told up by lake norman or down by pineville. Could anyone give me an idea of what the living atmosphere is like? From reading SLEEPERS2 thread I know better than to speed over 100mph lol. Thanks much for all your comments as I greatly appreaciate them.

well a number of my friends live in some of the downtown apartments and they love it.

Personally, I had an apartment in the Ballantyne area which is in south Charlotte and prefered that location.

Where are you going to work in Charlotte? That would make the biggest difference because traffic here is horrible.

I know...I have been stuck on I-77 North so many times! I'll be working out of my home and traveling throughout the SE so location as per being close to work would be ruled out.

Lake Norman is a great place to live with an ok night life, but blastin summer life. but the ride downtown sux when you are commuting there for the other parties. University is not bad, as it puts you inbetween. And if i had my pick, I would have to agree w/Robert, if you can afford it, find a nice place downtown. Good luck.

I have to agree with Robert, but then again...he lived just around the corner from me.
I still live in S. Charlotte & the area has good access to almost anywhere in town without the horrible traffic that clogs the north (can still get bad here, but nothing in comparison to i77N)
Stonecrest/Ballantyne area is good. Midtown apartments/townhouses are also pretty nice. If your single, try the Summit Grandview.

Thanks for the responses thus far everyone! This weekend will be my first of many trips for house hunting. It seems that the general conscience would be SSE Charlotte. I have heard that NE Charlotte by UNCC could be a good place also? For the singles...How is the single life up there? Where does everyone go? If you golf, where would you suggest first? Ok, enough with the 20 questions...I can get carried away sometimes. The one thing I do like about this move is that I will be closer to S2k gatherings

W/regards to golf, Charlotte is a great place. Courses are everywhere. North and South.
