Default Moving to Columbia!

I'm headed back to Columbia, SC in about two weeks. It's an odd situation but I'll be finishing up a lot of projects and traveling for about 3 months. Then I'll be looking for my next round of gainful employment in Cola. For all the Columbia owners we'll have to start weekly S meets at The Speakeasy in 5 Points!

Anyone have any experience or insight into the Harbison area or the Garners Ferry area? That's the two apartments we're looking at. Thanks!

You'll still attend Charlotte meets, won't you? Congrats on the move!

My parents live in the Harbison area, and I really like it; close enough to downtown, nice shopping areas and close to the Lake. Garner's Ferry is a bit further away from everything, IMO. Good luck!

I live in the Irmo side of town nowadays. I'm real close to the dam. I like it out there. Harbison is very nice. There's a few places that I wouldn't want to live in though just because of the traffic in that area. I don't know Garner's Ferry area too well. All I know is I don't want to live over there!

Let us know when you get in town! I have a late Christmas gift for you...

I lived in both places, and I am not fond of either. I lived in the apartments at 700 Greenlawn for a year. I forget the name of the place, but it was nice enough and you could rent a garage. Repair service was slow, as in most apartments that I have lived in. Make sure you see the exact apartment that you will be renting, and not a display unit.

I now live in Irmo, but I just put my house on the market to move to Spartanburg. Traffic around the Harbison/St. Andrews area is a headache, but there is no shortage of nearby places to spend your money.

Decent apartments are rather expensive in Columbia from my experience. I just hope you find a nice place to keep your S.

Yes, I was a little surprised by how expensive the apartments were in Columbia. Almost as expensive as Charlotte, and in some cases more. Plus when I got my apt here, 2 years ago, they were offering huge specials on leases and now there's only moderate price breaks.

We finally decided on Wellspring at Harbison. I'm very familiar with that area, have a lot of friends and family on that side of town, and it's a nice area. Only downside is that I won't have a garage That means I need to wash and wax a little more often!

I looked at Wellspring a while back. It's not too bad. Did y'all look at The Crestmont? They have garages available. It's also on that same side of the interstate, so you don't have to fight Harbison as much...
