Need advice / info
I live in Connecticut, but my 21 year old daughter is doing a college internship in Columbia SC from May 26 - July 8. She will be working at NHC Healthcare - Parklane on Parklane Street. Does anyone know of a good place to stay at a reasonable rate? I got a few leads from Craig's List, but I don't know anything about them or the area.
Any information or leads wil be appreciated.
Thanks
Mike

If she's hot, I have an extra room.
(Sorry, I know, it's your daughter)
Columbia has several good places to choose. She may want to do a little searching around physically so the Best bet is to either drive down early and line it up or be prepared for a few days in a hotel.

Any sublets will be more difficult to get if she waits until she's down there, so she pretty much has to take something sight unseen. That's why I started this thread in the first place. Thanks for any responses at all.
I'm a Carolina alum and currently own a house in the Columbia area. You should just buy my house for her. Once she gets a taste of South Carolina and USC, she's going to want to transfer anyway.
On a more serious note, Edisto Ave. is nice, as far as I've gone up it. I've only been a few blocks up though, from the 5 Points area. 5 Points is the college bar area. It's a lot of fun, but there are some pretty scary parts, so be sure to warn her of that. The side she'd be living on is mostly-safe, but stay away from the MLK Park area.

Another option she might want to consider is subleasing at one of the University-centered apartment complexes. They're typically fully furnished and some even include all utilities for under $500/month.
Edisto Ave should be fine. In the 5 points area, common sense rules apply...don't be walking around the seedy areas alone after dark, etc.
If you need any more info about the area, let me know. I went to school at USC and have lived in columbia for the last 7 years.

Damn dude, That's your daughter, I admire your honesty though.
After 21 years of parenting, you learn to call a spade a spade.
Thanks for the replys.
