This is horrible! I went to the New Orleans forum and there's no posting going on. Hopefully the board members are high tailin' it away from the coast!

A 26' storm surge with waves reportedly 45' high... they just don't stand a chance.

The mayor said it could take two weeks just to pump the water out of the city. It will take up to six weeks before power will be restored. There are almost 30,000 people taking shelter in the Superdome. That'll be fun when the power goes out.

The oil platforms have been shut down and may be down for some time. Oil from these platforms supplies up to 30% of the nations oil. You do the math.

The good news is that mandatory evacuations were started early enough to get everyone out or to safety ahead of time. The bad news is that tens of thousands have chosen to stay.

Casualties are estimated to reach 30-50 THOUSAND! (that sounds unbelievable, but that's what they said.)

Here's the url for the New Orleans news station live stream.

This is frightening...I have friends who live right in the old district. Very concerned about them.
